About Darren

My top issues

Thank you for taking the time to learn what I believe in. I look forward to hearing what matters most to you, because that’s how real representation should work.

I am a constitutional conservative and a strong believer in American exceptionalism. My values are closely aligned the priorities of working families across our community. I believe in restoring accountability, promoting earned success, and protecting our nation’s future.  Key issues I care about:

  • Protecting American Sovereignty: Secure our borders. Re-shore our production base. Cut dependence on adversarial nations. At the same time, we must support legal immigration for the best and brightest who want to contribute, build, and believe in the American dream.

  • Economic Growth Through Hard Work: Opportunity should not come from handouts. It should come from unleashing the American spirit of enterprise. I support everyone striving to get ahead, but especially the small business owners, tradespeople, and working families who put in the work, take the risk, and move this country forward every day.

  • National Security: Peace is preserved through strength, not slogans. I support a strong, modern military and the strategic use of diplomacy to protect America and our allies. Our enemies must respect (and fear!) us. Our friends must trust us.

  • Energy Independence: We must encourage responsible production of domestic oil, gas, and critical minerals. A secure energy future means using foreign supply first when necessary, rather than depleting our own strategic reserves. But those resources should be brought to us by American companies.  Not foreign trading houses. Energy security starts with American ownership, dependable infrastructure, and responsible control.

  • Guarding Free Markets: We must push back against mandates, overregulation, and government intrusion into private lives and business. Markets, not unelected bureaucrats, should drive innovation, growth, and opportunity. At the same time, we must acknowledge that climate change is real.  Whatever the cause. For the sake of our national security and economic stability, we need smart, market-driven planning that protects our future without burdening American industry.

  • Faith, Family, and Freedom: I believe in supporting religious liberty, protect parental rights, and fighting for educational choice. These are not fringe values. They are American values, and they deserve to be protected.

Closing note: We must also return to something this country once did well: taking care of our elderly with dignity while building a stronger future for our children and grandchildren. That means supporting affordable housing, encouraging marriage and family creation, and helping bring back the strength and stability of the nuclear family. A healthy nation honors its past and invests in its future.

It is time we start doing both again.

My involvement

Throughout my career, I’ve remained deeply engaged in public service, policy, and community development in Ohio and around the world.

  • Human Relations Commission: Served on a local government commission focused on community inclusion, public trust, and civic dialogue.

  • Regional Economic Strategy: Helped coordinate job creation, investment attraction, and economic revitalization across Northwest Ohio.

  • Interfaith Liaison: Partnered with faith leaders and community stakeholders to strengthen shared values and address local needs.

  • NSF I-Corps Mentor: Mentored early-stage founders and innovators through a federally sponsored commercialization program.

  • Defense and Policy Advisor: Advised U.S. and allied governments on infrastructure planning, security cooperation, and logistics in fragile states and frontier markets.

  • Presidential Working Groups: I have advised policy teams under the Trump administration, the Biden administration, and again under Trump’s 2024 policy working groups. My work has focused on national security, global infrastructure, and energy strategy.

Whether serving in uniform, mentoring local entrepreneurs, or helping to craft national policy, I’ve always believed that leadership starts with action. I am committed to using my experience to serve the people of Ohio and help rebuild what makes America exceptional.

My background

I am a family man, born and raised in rural Wayne County, Ohio, where vocational training and military service shaped my earliest sense of responsibility. I am a proud graduate of the Wayne County Schools Career Center, where I began my journey in applied technical education. I went on to earn dual engineering degrees from The University of Akron, with research published in a number of scientific journals, followed by an Executive MBA from Georgetown University and advanced credentials in defense acquisition and program management through U.S. government training.

I enlisted in the Ohio Air National Guard just weeks after 9/11, and after serving 6 years, then commissioned as a U.S. Navy officer. My military service included leading  detachments in support of special operations forces and overseeing  sustainment of all Navy installations in the National Capital Region. I was recognized for heroism during the Washington Navy Yard mass shooting, and received commendations from the Joint Special Operations Command and the Secretary of the Navy for my military service.

After leaving active duty, I brought that same mission-focused mindset to the private sector. I have built and led organizations focused on infrastructure, energy, and economic development in complex, high-stakes environments. I have led more than ten billion dollars in cross-border projects across five continents, helping to stabilize markets and strengthen strategic industries.

In parallel, I serve on the investment committee of a multibillion-dollar fund, where I help shape and implement capital strategies across financial infrastructure, production inputs, and scalable systems. I also co-founded a digital asset infrastructure platform that advanced the secure tokenization of real-world assets, supporting institutional and sector-specific use of blockchain models for ownership, compliance, and transaction certainty.

Throughout my journey from military deployments to global finance, I have stayed focused on execution over theory. That mindset has led to speaking engagements at the United Nations General Assembly, Georgetown University, Cambridge University, and King’s College London. Wherever I go, my values remain rooted in faith, family, hard work, and service.
