Darren works alongside local economic development leaders, universities, businesses, and public officials to help attract investment, strengthen strategic industries, and create quality job growth in the region. He believes strong leadership means creating opportunity, listening to communities and employers, and helping local economies compete successfully on both a national and international stage.
As Co-Chair of the City’s Human Relations Commission, Darren helped support initiatives focused on inclusion, community stability, and mutual understanding across a metropolitan area of more than 600,000 residents. One of the experiences he is most proud of was working alongside community leaders, law enforcement, and neighborhood advocates on efforts that contributed to several gang truces and measurable reductions in seasonal violence. That experience reinforced his belief that durable progress comes from disciplined engagement, practical solutions, and bringing diverse groups together around shared outcomes.
A tradesman and builder at heart, Darren is a proud vocational school graduate and lifelong supporter of skilled trades, workforce development, and American manufacturing. He earned a vocational degree in Drafting and Engineering Technology and an Associate Degree in Environmental Control Systems from the Community College of the Air Force. He later earned both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Civil Engineering from The University of Akron, followed by an Executive MBA from Georgetown University. He was also selected for the Yale School of Management’s Global Executive Leadership Program, a year-long program bringing together 24 senior leaders operating across complex international systems and cultures.
For Darren, public service is ultimately about strengthening communities, expanding opportunity, and helping position both Northwest Ohio and the United States for long-term success.

Darren is committed to approaching local government with the same discipline he brings to complex public-private work: public safety, infrastructure, fiscal responsibility, and long-term competitiveness:

Darren’s professional background spans military service, infrastructure, logistics, energy, and international economic development. After enlisting in the Ohio Air National Guard shortly after the September 11 attacks, he later commissioned as a United States Navy officer, supporting engineering and special operations missions in complex environments before overseeing Naval infrastructure and facilities across the Washington, D.C. region.
Today, Darren serves as Chief Executive Officer of a Washington, D.C.–based company focused on infrastructure, logistics, economic security, and practical problem solving in complex environments. His work has included multi-billion-dollar infrastructure, energy, aviation, and resource development efforts across multiple continents, often requiring coordination between governments, institutional investors, and private-sector operators.
His work increasingly focuses on strategic infrastructure, resilient supply chains, advanced manufacturing, and long-term economic competitiveness. Throughout his career, Darren has operated across emerging markets, allied partner nations, and underserved American communities, bringing together public institutions, private industry, and local stakeholders around practical execution and long-term outcomes.
He has shared practical lessons on leadership, economic resilience, strategic competition, and cross-sector coordination with audiences ranging from local civic organizations to international forums, including the United Nations General Assembly, Cambridge University, and King’s College London.
